Fundraising is a pretty incredible thing to do. Not only are you raising money for a cause you care about, you’re also helping to educate and inspire others. However, it isn’t an easy thing to ask people to donate their hard earned dollars to help you reach your fundraising goal.

Thankfully Social Media has helped close the barrier between fundraiser and donor! These simple ‘tricks of the trade’ are a fool-proof way to increase your donations without having to awkwardly ask outright. 5 ways Twitter can help you hit your fundraising goal

Has your fundraising hit a little bit of a slump? Are you close, but need a little help reaching your donation goal? Check out the Top 10 ways you can easily use Twitter to boost donations and reach your goal sooner!

1. Ask for a Retweet 

Asking friends, family, your charity or even a celebrity to retweet you is a fantastic way to boost the visibility of your tweet! Don’t be shy… most people will be flattered that you’ve asked them and will be more than happy to help.

2. Make friends with hashtags

Using a hashtag in your tweet is a great way to promote your cause and increase your tweet’s searchability. For example: #AlexChopsHisLocks, #Fundraising and #CancerSucks are all great hashtags to promote a fundraising event for cancer research.

3. Catch someone’s eye with an image

To really stand out on Twitter, try uploading an image with your tweet. This will definitely make you stand out among all of the text-only tweets!

4. Make it personal

Keep your tweets personal by telling everyone why your cause is important to you. Your friends and family are much more likely to engage with content that comes straight from the heart!

5. Thank your donors

Make sure you give your donors a shout out and thank them for their generosity. Everyone deserves to be recognised for supporting a wonderful cause. And you’ll get to inspire your Network too.

  • Add a story. Make sure you tell your donors about yourself! Let them get to know you, this way they will gain a deeper understanding as to why you have chosen to fundraise! People who include a story raise up to 74% more than others.

2. Donate to your page

  • Fundraisers who have donated to their own pages show that they are more dedicated and motivated to achieving their goals. It helps to inspire the people who visit the page to donate.

3. Share on Instagram

  • Make sure you share your fundraising page on Instagram! Instagram users are incredibly active and spend at least 21 minutes per day on the app. Don’t be afraid to post a couple of times throughout your fundraising journey.
  • Use different images to increase engagement!
